Day 2 – Friday 3/29/2019
Today students got their first taste of what the Marine Biology trip is all about. After breakfast students walked to the Goshen College marine biology building and were issued the snorkel gear they will need for the week. Then, starting around 11am, students could be seen in their first excursion floating above the grass and mud flats. These flats are directly in front of the resort where we are staying and provide habitat for an amazing variety of sea life. Check out the Day 2 photos to see what they found! Students also began on their book work for the week.
In the afternoon everyone piled into the Bus and SPV’s again for a real treat, our trip to the beautiful and historic Key West. The drive from Layton takes about 1.5 hours, but the scenery is amazing the whole way. In Key West the students were free to roam the city in groups. Everyone had to find their own supper, but with so many interesting restaurants, it wasn’t hard! I have it on good authority that MANY slices of key lime pie were consumed.
At the end of the evening much of the group found their way to to the famous Mallory Square to enjoy the legendary sunset experience. A perfect end to a great day.
